Fontana's Resting PlaceI want to pick up Fontana from TAWhatley on Thursday the 12th. Sorry I didn’t get to do this sooner, but had a new rescue that I think Fontana MAY have sent our (Terry and I) way. I’ll show pictures of that one in the next thread (this one belongs to Fontana.) As anguished as I am over the loss of Fontana and though this isn’t the form I wanted Fontana to be coming home in, I am still relieved to have Fontana home. I wished I could have given Fontana a 21 gun salute but I didn’t think the local police would like it to much. Hahahha Image Hosting Image Hosting |

Indeed an excellent tribute and a beautiful corner memorial for your beloved Fontana Firstimer. This is so inspiring. Thank you so much for sharing your day of bereavement with us. God bless.

How wonderful for there to be a place, this forum, where our feelings and pain over the loss for a pigeon, is respected and honored.

That is a beautiful way to honor your bird (though I did like the idea of the 21-gun salute better. I can only imagine what people would be thinking - who's the soldier? Where is he? He must have been a great hero! Hee-hee. Sorry, I couldn't resist.
). I personally try to find a quiet place in the woods where hardly anyone goes and bury the ferals that have passed away next to a tree. People probably think I'm nuts but I feel they've had it hard so much that I want to give them a nice peaceful resting place once they've gone. I like the idea of them "sleeping" in peace. I would've done it for my "Garye" the pigeon if I had found her body but I don't know where she died or whatever became of her. I am happy to know that Eartha was able to give my Julius pigeon a nice quiet place to rest. It gives me great comfort to know she did that. |
