Good-bye Santa Cruz Bird

This morning I went out to clean and feed everyone and Santa Cruz Bird hadn't made it through the night. I thought he looked a bit off yesterday but when I tried to catch him he made such a fuss, I thought I was wrong and he was just hanging out in the sun. He looked normal before bed and was snuggled up with his mate, which is where he still was this morning. He came to me last summer from someone who had found him at their office building at the window. He was someone's pet and banded but no numbers on the band, no telling his age but he had a few years on him at least. He had a hurt wing which healed almost completely though he didn't like to fly much. He had a lovely mate who I know will miss him. His coloring and expressions were unique and I quite enjoyed him and will miss him a lot. Now he is flying free with no hurt wings and I know he is happy.

I hope his mate will be OK...perhaps find another...

I am so sorry MJ, he was a beautiful bird. How fortunate he was to have those added months and to pass snuggled up to his mate.

Maryjane,
I'm so sorry and I know your's and his mates heart is broken and there are no words that can take away the pain, but always remember you gave him a wonderful life filled with love, most pigeons never get the chance to have a life like he had. Santa Cruz Bird was very beautiful. Always remember he may be gone, but he will always live on in your heart.
