Terry, I am so very sorry about Schatzie. I know we all grieve for our pigeons that die but the death of a beloved dog is especially hard. Schatzie was lovely and I know you will miss her. We had to make a decision like you did for our 18 year old min-pin, Missy, and our vet's words to me were "let's let her go with some dignity". I had not been able to face her death until he said that to me and it helped us make the decision. You allowed your Schatzie to leave with dignity and love.

Terry,

So sorry to hear of your sad loss of Schatzie

She was a grand old age and is now in peace without suffering. I know how hard it is to take that final journey with a loved pet. It takes a lot of courage and strength when that day comes. 18 years brings a lot of wonderful memories of a happy dog who loved her family and lived life to the full.

Hugs,

Lindi

Terry, I'm so sorry that you had to make that terribly hard decision to help Schatzie pass on. Each of our critters are special and some are extra special to us and I know you and Schatzie have been through a lot together. Bless you for taking her in and making her life so wonderful and long. I couldn't even read the poem, it's been two years since I lost my golden and though the pain does get less, it doesn't ever seem to be far!! May you take comfort in all of your other babies. Of course Schatzie is now running around happily, seeing and hearing everything, and waiting for you at the rainbow bridge.

Just this side of Heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet
goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special
friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Oh Gosh, Terry!

This was my last thread I was going to go through before turning in and so glad I did so that that I could send some prayers to you and your family.
What sweet eyes that little kid had and still has.
I share with you tears at this moment thinking of my shepherd Jake.
Though all creatures are beloved, Dogs are truly man's best friend.
I am so thankful to Mary Jane for sharing with you the excerpt from the Rainbow Bridge story.
If you send me your address, I'd be happy to send you a book called,
Cold Noses at the Pearly Gates. It references everything in the Bible that shows that our beloved pets do in fact have a place in Paradise and that they will all come to greet us when we get There.
Our love for them and theirs for us crosses the bridge between There and here.
May the Lord console your heart as He shows you how happy and healthy your little sweetheart is playing with all of God's Beloved Creatures as described by Mary Jane in the prior post. Bless you, Mary Jane for doing that for Terry. I didn't have the book close at hand, so I'm so glad you did!
This is really tough to go through.
That poem is so beautiful....half a roll of paper towels worth!

Healing blessings to you and family always!

Christin, is that book by Gary Kurz? I did an EBay search and just wanted to verify.

I had four dogs at one time and three reached their senior years and passed on. I have Barkley, but she is now in her senior years and has bad arthritis. When her time comes the pigeons are even going to miss her.

Isaiah 65:25
The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock: and dust shall be the serpent's meat. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith the LORD.

One of my favorite verses.

Yes, Kippy!

It's written by Gary Kurz....pic on the front shows some little guys, dog/cats entering through the gate with a big castle in the backround.
It's still available at amazon.com....also, for those who are also mourning the loss of pets, the reviews about the book on amazon are inspiring and worth reading even if one does not order the book!

When my sis lost her bird, Phee (short for Phoenix), I sent her the book and added on the front cover, "Warm beaks"....to the title. She said that warmed her heart so much!

Also, a very strange thing happened soon after my daughter went to college...one of her rabbits, Abigail, hopped out from my husband's arms and fell to the ground breaking her neck/spine and dying instantly. Ugh! Still makes me sick and that was 4 years ago. Anyway, I didn't have the heart to tell my daughter, so I quickly went online and searched 300 Belgian rabbits to find one that was the same color....I did find one, however this little girl was only 3 months old and our other one was 2 years old. I quickly went to pick up Abigail #2 and fed and fed high cal. food due to my daughter coming home for Christmas. This was the end of Sept. so I only had 3 mos. to get this Abigail in shape. Ok that was the backround of this amazing story, now for the amazing part...
When my daughter came home she quickly ran into the barn to see her rabbits...she picked each one up to hug and kiss them. Then she took Abigail, her favorite, and began playing a game with her which I totally had forgotten about when trying to pull this switch-a-roo! My daughter would sit with Abigail #1 and take a little stuffed toy and switch from one hand to the other behind her back and then to the front of her...her rabbit would then run round and round and round this way and that way trying to grab the toy....this was our only rabbit out of many that would do this, so when I saw my daughter getting ready to play with Abigail #2, I tried to tell her to come inside and unpack and have something to eat....she said she wanted to play with Abigail first. :0
I just said a quick prayer to myself, and lo and behold....this Abigail #2 played the game EXACTLY as Abigail #1....never having played the game before! And did such everyday with my daughter while she visited and still does so everytime she comes presently!

God's Eye is truly on the sparrow....doggies, pijies and rabbits too! AMEN!

Thanks for the beautiful verses! I love them as well!

Hoping you guys are feeling better this night...my prayers continue for all of you! KEEP THE FAITH!

Terry, I am very, very sorry for your loss. Schatzie has the sweetest face. I understand how you feel.
I lost my Mikkos, a Bichon Frise, exactly 10 years & 8 months ago today. He was the love of my life.

Time eases the pain, but the sense of loss is always with me. I am so looking forward to being with Mikkos & all of my creatures.

Schatzie will be waiting for your arrival, as will all of the other creatures you've loved.

Phyll
