Goodbye Serena (AU 1991 FTV 13358) - 1991 - August 11, 2007

I am very sad to report that Serena, beloved mate of De Senna, departed this world last night. Hopefully she and De Senna are happy and flying free now that they are together again.

Well, of course it's always sad when one of our babies dies, BUT........she was probably missing De Senna and I really think she's better off now. Maybe they are together again. I sure hope so.....

Oh Terry, I am so sorry to hear that Serena passed away so soon after De Senna. I know you will miss them dearly. She may have just been ready to go after he died. RIP you beautiful bird who gave so much joy. I hope your spirit is flying free.

Terry, I am so sorry for your loss. Serena had a beautiful kind eye - I just love the expressive face of a hen. Your wonderful care was a comfort in her senior years. She had a good long life and is now at peace with her mate. Imagine how fast they can fly now!

Terry, I'm sorry to hear that you lost Serena. At least there is comfort in knowing she is with De Serra now.

I'm so sorry to hear about this beautiful old gal. I'm sure she missed her beloved who recently passed, and she may have died of a broken heart.

I have heard of devoted couples who part this world within months of the other.

I know it is sad, but it is also a tribute to these birds, how much each loved the other, and they are now at peace, and soaring high....above all....together. They are again together in spirit

Sending my deepest condolensces and a hug to you.....as I sit in tears....again.

I'm so very sorry Terry I'm sure Serena was met by De Senna at the Rainbow Birdge and there was a joyous reunion. They might have left you in body but they are together forever in spirit, an eternal couple inseparable.

Thank you everyone for your kind words and thoughts. Though Serena seemed to be OK health wise and was eating and drinking, she just seemed kind of "lost" after De Senna died. She didn't show any interest in any of the other birds, but I didn't think that was too odd as I had Traveler for many years before he showed any interest in having a mate .. I just figured it would take a long while for Serena to want to have a companion. I am so sorry to have lost both De Senna and Serena so unexpectedly and so close together, and though I know I am being silly and maudlin, I will just continue to think that this is how they wanted it and are now together again.

George .. thank you so much for the offer of your older pair. I may take you up on them at some point, but right now I still have more than plenty senior pigeons here that I am looking after and am quite attached to.

Terry that is not silly at all. I lost my darling Grandpa suddenly and he cared for my Nanna all his life (married 60 years) and her last 10 years she had Alzeimers. She didn't know who my Poppa was, yet he never lost patience and he still thought she was the most beautiful woman in the world. We thought Nanna would die first, but Poppa did (very suddenly) and it was a shock. 6 weeks later Nanna died. I KNOW this was because Poppa was always there for Nanna and had to be in Heaven to welcome her in. And she KNEW he had gone and so she could finally breathe her last breath. They are now dancing in heaven together again.

And why should birds or animals be different. We are all beings capable of love and feelings. I think your way of looking at it makes perfect sense to me

love and light

Terry,

I am sorry to hear about Serena's passing.

I agree with you totally though, about Serena and De Senna wanting to be together.

Life can seem strange at times. In April 1981 a 23-year-old sister died of CF a few months after giving birth to her first child, a healthy girl. Her best friend and long-term classmate said she no longer felt like living without Patsy. Less than two months later the car she was driving home from the beach crashed on the highway, and she and a younger sister died. Shortly afterwards my baby niece contracted meningitis, probably from a mosquito bite, went into a coma, and died before her second birthday. We feel they are all together. I don't know where or how, but I know we are all taken care of after death, just as we were taken care of before birth, and during this life.

We are all travelers, and this life is but a stop-over of brief duration.

Larry
