Lucky the canary died last night. Some of you may be familliar with Lucky, the canary I got as a companion for my blind Senegal dove Noddy. The day before yesterday he was singing and eating and being his playful self. Then in the evening he started wheezing/squeaking so I put him on s76 as recommended by people I asked. The next morning he was unchanged but not worse. I had to go out and when I got back in the evening he was gasping open mouthed and not making any sounds. He deteriorated very quickly, was on the floor gasping but then at night he was up on the perches again and we thought he had a chance. Later that night when I went to check on him he was dead
![]() I guess he wasn't lucky after all poor little thing. He will be sorely missed, the house is sadly silent with him gone today, his beautiful song used to fill the house. He was such a tiny bird with a huge voice, we used to nick name him Pavarotti his voice was so beautiful. I'm left wondering what did I do wrong, what more could I have done to help him. As you all know, these things are never easy. RIP sweet little Lucky. ![]() |
