Mighty, Valiant....The morning came as all the others
Rainy, glum, and winter-sad The air was still, And hid a secret As seagulls screeched Above the land.... Oh, fallen, noble, valiant bird, You leader of your watching flock! Oh, mangled and dishonored feathers, YOU.... YOU! ....Sullen Death, Who comes, To mock! Now, Who will tell About your courage, Always first To lead the rest.... Who will smile, Recall the moments When brave you fought, With swollen chest? Will these breezes, Ripling softly, Make it known Upon the air, As rain, like teardrops, O're him washes, Fallen and foresaken there? Lindylou December 19, 2009
