Our Dear Becky

On November 16 2006, we lost our dear ringneck dove, Becky. She landed on our fire escape here in New York City in August of 1994, and lit up our house with love and beauty for more than 12 years. We buried her in the back yard, under the tree that she watched all that time, but we will always miss her. We love you, Becky.--Sadly, Pam and Andy

Dear Pam & Andy,
I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your beloved Becky.
It sounds like she & you had a wonderful life together.
I'm sure she left lots of fond & treasured memories in the special nest that she built & placed in your hearts.

"Bless you sweet Becky"

Cindy

Dear Pam and Andy, I'm so sorry to hear about Becky. I know you had posted a few days ago about her not feeling well, and I was keeping my fingers crossed for you. It is very hard to lose a friend after so many years together. I hope you are able to find some peace soon, and know that she had a wonderful life with you!!

I hope you find comfort in Becky's memory. 12 years is a testimony to the great care that you provided for Becky. May she always live in your heart.

I'm so sorry for the loss of Becky! Especially hard after so long a time.

She certainly lived a long life but I know that, not only will she live in your hearts and memories, she will also let you know that she is OK and still "around."

With warm HUGS

Pam and Andy, I'm sorry to hear about Becky's passing. She was a lovely
dove and I'm sure felt the warmth and love from you that was also radiated
back again. I can't think of a better place for her to rest in than beneath the tree that she enjoyed viewing from her spot in your home.

I am standing upon the seashore. A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength. I stand and watch her until at length she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other.
Then someone at my side says "There, she is gone!"

" Gone Where?"

Gone from my sight. That is all. She is just as large in mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side and she is just as able to bear her load of living freight to her destined port.

Her diminished size is in me, not in her. And just at the moment when someone at my side says : "There, she is gone!" there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices ready to take up the glad shout: "Here she comes!"

And that is dying.

--Henry Van Dyke

Becky, Shumai, and Happy are waiting for you, Pam and Andy, just over the bridge.

Pam and Andy, your Becky was a lucky little girl to have found you. I know you will miss her terribly. She was very beautiful. She may be physically gone but the good memories you have of her will be with you forever.

What a lovely little bird she was! I am sure she is now watching over you. That's what I always like to think when someone I care about passes away. It sometimes gives you great comfort to know someone is out there looking out for you.
