RIP Chubs
Today we lost our dear rabbit boy Chubs.
I came home from work in the morning and went to feed Daisy and Chubs. My giant French Lops. I noticed Chubs was not himself and while trying to get hold of my vet he was only getting worse. Finally I was able to take him to the clinic and the tests showed that he was in kidney failure. I-v's were started with fluids and antibiotics and I was going to keep him on the iv pump during the night but sadly he died on his way back home.
Two years ago when I was working in the clinic, a young lady brought in Chubs to have him put to sleep. Daisy and Chubs belonged to her boyfriend and after he left her she was "stuck" with the rabbits she didn't want to keep them anymore. So, she thought putting them to sleep was the only option. My vet was looking for a new home for them and after a week in the clinic the owner wanted them out, right then and there. So, I took them home.
Chubs was the sweeter one, cuddly and friendly and happy. We loved this boy and we will miss him.
I am sure Daisy is heartbroken and will be very lonely now. I hope we can make her feel a bit better soon as she will get tons of attention. Poor girl.
RIP Chubs.
