RIP VoodooMy pouter, Voodoo, passed away Jan. 2, I don't know why, just her time I guess. She used to share her nest box with an adopted feral pigeon named Shadow, who now sits in the box alone. Her band said she was hatched in 2005, so she wasn't old or anything, nor had she been sick. She was a neat bird, she used to blow out her throat when I would come to feed everybody as if to say "I want some too. Look at me!" Then she would stand on the edge of the food bowl and show off after she ate. Even my Giant Homers wouldn't mind her, and they chased everyone out of their nesting area.
I'll miss you, little lady. Fly free with Violette and Oreo. |

RIP Voodoo...what a lovely name!
During my ten years as a pigeon keeper I have only lost 3 males...the rest of my deaths were among the hens. There is so much more that can go wrong with hens and it is usually hidden from us. Fly high, Voodoo!
