Sweet dreams RosieI was given a pair of squabs, Rosie and Grey, 6 years ago from a member here, Nooti, I'd just started rehabbing and they were my 'guinea pigs' to help me learn crop feeding, my first squabs. They became a pair, I use dummy eggs so there's no babies.
Rosie started breathing heavily last week, I brought her in and started her on anti-biotics and wormed her, but she died 2 days later I have no avian vet to rely on.A few days before she died I realised I'd missed an egg (an 'oops' baby!) and there was a miniature Rosie sitting in their nest, Rosie was a a very pretty red pigeon, my only red pigeon, I am so pleased now that there's an oops baby, part of Rosie is still here ![]() Miss you Rosie, don't worry about baby, Grey is doing a great job of bringing him/her up ![]() The photo was taken 5 years ago. |

What a blessing to have her oops baby come along at the just the right time, I am sure that gives you some comfort. My condolensces to you, to Grey, and to this new little sweety.

It is wonderful that Rosie lives on in this new baby. I'm very sorry she died and hope Grey will soon adjust to losing her. I expect having the new baby to care for will help.
I'm very sorry.

Ali,
My condolences on the loss of your cute pigeon Rosie. You can sure miss a pigeon who's been with you a while, and even one who's with you a very short time. I'm glad you have an "oops! baby," a precious gift from her. I had a pigeon rescue I named "Rosie" because I found him/her near Rosenplatz in Cologne. She had a broken wing, cannot fly, lives with the re-habber Christa G. who adopted her (and many others). I hope she lives many happy years, and I hope your oops! baby will be with you many years to come. Larry
