I lost my pet pigeon last saturday. He is brown with white flights and a grey tail. He is very tame and will mostly come to your hand or shoulder. Also, has broken middle tail feathers. If I can remeber correctly, should have a green band on one leg. Please contact me if it matches. 651-442-1152 TY

Moninator, I lost my pet pigeon this last Saturday. Can you see if this discription matches the one you found. Brown with white flights and a gray tail. The middle tail feathers are broken. Should be very tame will fly to your shoulders and eat from your hands. Also, on one leg, might have a green band. Please let me know.

I just checked my other pet's band is not mine. My bands start with AU. If any one finds a pigeon matching the discription I posted, please let know. Thanks for all the help guys.

I'm sure my new friend is not the missing pigeon - my guy started hanging out here on Friday.

What is a flight? (the missing bird has "white flights)

Anyhoo, Rocket (cleverly named by my children) seems to be adjusting well - but I don't know proper pigeon behavior. He eats, poops (better consistency than previously reported) and hangs out in the same spot on his perch. Doesn't flutter his wings, doesn't talk, doesn't do much at all. Is this normal? (not complaining mind you, just concerned)

Thanks!

I'll post a photo later - it's late here, past his bedtime....

What is normal behavior?

Can you tell me how a pigeon acts? Rocky doesn't do much - eats, poops, sits on his perch, naps. Doesn't flap his wings at all. Is this normal?

Not really normal but not really abnormal either. Rocky is a very handsome/pretty bird and appears to be the typical AGSG bird as far as breed .. looks like a Flight to me. If Rocky is always kind of puffed up as he appears in the pictures, then he is not feeling well, and we need to try and figure out what might be wrong. I suspect that Rocky isn't feeling totally top notch .. that may be due to being out for a long time and simply starving or may be a combination of things.

Thank you for the photo .. it's very helpful to know what Rocky actually looks like.

Thank you and your family so very much for taking Rocky in!

Terry

We have all become rather fond of him!

Suggestions on what we should do for him? Sugar water?

BTW, we have found a great home for the chickens ...

poops are runny again

Rocky SEEMS to be acting the same for the most part: quiet and puffed up (but friendly). He does eat. His poops have been watery lately.
I read about various diseases and maybe he's got the cocci... thing.

So, I cleaned up the cage and made him some water with salt and honey (2 cups water, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/2 tbl honey/suger/glucose).

Any other ideas? Antibiotic?

Also, thank you AGSG. I'll keep that in mind. It's working out for now tho.

if you are able to take a fecal sample to the vet, they can test it to see what meds he may need, then I would go from there....I would put 4 tablespoons of ORGANIC apple cider vinegar in a gallon of water(not city water) and use that as his water for 5 days in a row. it has probitics in it and aids his digestion...your vet or pet store may have a probiotic also to give with his food.....another option...powderd vitamins for birds mix with plain yogurt and coat his seed...he very well may need an antibiotic so giving him some probiotic would be good if he does need a anitbio as that med can affect his good gut bacteria. your vet may think it is a good idea to deworm him also...so a check up is in order...
