Another AGSG pigeon found in West MichiganAbout a week ago Walter (as my sister named him) showed up and moved into my barn. Appears to be healthy; he will let me get close enough to read his band but will not let me touch him. I would have no problem with him staying but I have four marauding assassins (barn cats) and I don't want him to end up as a cat toy. He looks similar to the bird in the previous Michigan thread but has a white tail. I would gladly try to catch him and transport him if anyone is interested in rescuing him. I am between Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo.

PLEASE do catch the bird. Pigeons will eat wild bird seed, whole corn, or anything in a pigeon mix. You cn keep them temporarily in a dog or cat carrier, even a rabbit cage...with some modifications.

I spoke with the hubby and he said "no" on this one. I think it's too much, too soon for him. I may be able to help with future birds, but no more until I get the loft made up. He doesn't want a flock of pigeons in the house.
Maybe the other person would be willing to help? |

I will try to attach a picture of Walter. I have confined him in the indoor arena (where he had been spending his nights) for his own protection and his food and water is in a dog crate. He will come very close to me so I think I will be able to trap him in the crate soon. Any luck finding someone who is willing to adopt him?

What a pretty pigeon. I'm glad Walter is safe.
