That good, Bob. I remember the first time I saw a baby pigeon...I had to tell everyone about it too because it was just so amazing. So little and all that fuzzy yellow ...so precious!
Congratulations! I won't wish you many more...that would bring out a different kind of excitement. ![]()

Pretty cool, huhQuote:
Be careful with over-zealous wing slappers, they can break eggs and injure newborns. It doesn't hurt to check on them but you have to be somewhat careful. You can shield the babies or eggs with your hand to prevent problems. The more you practice this, the more likely your birds are to expect it and not go so nuts. Some never get over it either and you just have to be more careful with them. Bill |

Thanks for the congrats and comments everybody ! Everything seems just fine with the babies .
I resisted the urge to keep peeking at the little ones . Fortunately for all I was very busy around the place today and it kept me occupied I checked just once during the day when Homer was on the nest and they looked fine . They are cute little buggers , but I'm going to try to stay hands off for a couple of days until they get a good start in this world . It seems to me that mom and dad are doing the same routine of him tending during day and her at night .... but it hasnt even been 24 hours yet so I really dont know , what should I expect from now on ? The nest is sort of hidden behind a solid front nest box arrangment in the loft so I cant really see whats going on without disturbing them . I just can just tell who seems to be on the nest . I was under the assumption they both tended to them at the same time . There will be one of each sex correct ? This is my first go around with baby pigeons and quite a fun experiance ! No names yet ND , I think I'll see what they do and how they act and name them acordingly . Late this afternoon when Ruby took over again , Homer was out of the loft and he was following me around the place right on my heels while I was working . I had to keep watching out for him as I was afraid I would step on him .... He's never seemed this tame before , I think he's just a proud daddy . I'll get some pics taken this weekend . Later all , Bob |

Thanks for the info Bill ! So the shifts wont change too much even after the eggs are hatched . I read as much as I can on the internet about pigeon behavior , but the sites dont go into much detail .
I'm sure glad I found Pigeon-Talk and a knowlegeable crew to walk me through this and answer my questions until I learn the ropes ! Checked my birds early his AM and everything is just fine . Hambone |

I don't know if it is always one male, one female babywise. I had two that were both male. In fact, come to think of it, over time, I had more males than females born, which puts the coop in constant competition.
