you can do that IF you're hen is in the habit of sitting the first egg and incubates it..if she is already doing that then leave it.. if you know you're birds and know the bird sits the first egg you have to get it right when it is layed before she sit it..otherwise if it starts developement and then you take it away it would cause the egg to stop developing and die..if it is just layed and suspended and not developed yet then it can be taken and kept up with a fake in it's place untill the second is layed and then returned when that happens.

shes kinda on and off she'll go lay on the egg for maybe a couple minutes then get of so far shes done that every hour give or take

I would leave it then as that sounds pretty normal and the development is slow if she is on and off of it..the second egg should be about 45 or so hours after the first one and then she will sit them both tight, then the development will be close, and they should hatch about the same time or one not long after the other, if they are fertile and healthy.

i changed it out do to the fact that every time a walked by she was on the egg so i changed it out for the fake btw where should i put the real egg so it survives

If she is already on the egg, then you should have left it alone. If it has already started to develop due to her sitting on it, then removing it can kill it.
