Fireworks image, Las Vegas

Well, I am only a few hunderd feet North of the 'Stratosphere Tower', and they did a pretty big Fireworks display, as usual...so, seeing as I seem to have got my Camera working, I stepped out my front door and snapped a few images.

Here is one anyway, and it was quite a Show of course.

The only thing I do no like about when the more or less Downtown Hotels do Fireworks late at Night, is that in the days following I tend to find injured Wings, injured/sprained Legs, and other troubles from Pigeons who spooked and flew off in the darkness from their Night Roosts, sometimes landing badly, flying into Wires or other, and so, I kind of dread these displays..!

Anyway, Happy "2008" to all...!

And to all the little Beaks...!

Love,

Phil

Sorry to hear about the poor injured birds! Hope they stay clear of the area this year. They probably would have to leave the entire city to avoid it on a night like New years EVe.

Happy 2008!

Great shot Phil!! How I wish we had made it to Vegas this year... Dave & I usually go every Thanksgiving, but we couldn't do it this year Next year though if we get out there I hope we can meet you. We love the area so much we even got married on the Dessert Princess II on Lake Mead. Would be great if we could see that display in person too. Hope you don't have too many found injuries as a result though.

Great photo, Phil! I, too, am sorry the fireworks wreak such havoc with the birds. Hopefully they all escaped injury this time around.

Well, I drove aorund the neighborhood a few times and did not see any one 'grounded'...so, thats good..!

Sunny and cold, and the feral flock are all in a bathing mood, so, three pans of Water, and lots of bathing Beauties Sunning themselves, laying here and there. I think I will round up another large pan for them.

Happy "2008"..!

Great fireworks picture Phil. I'm glad to hear that you didn't find any wounded pidges. The fourth of July is the same way. Lots of scared and wounded animals.

Bath time is such a relaxing time for pidges. I love it when they sit reclining on one elbow while basking in the sun.

Hi Margaret,

Yes! The 'one-elbow' recline they do...good description..!

I tell you what though, if I took a Bath out there in that 42 degree Water, and tried Sunning myself after, on one elbow, or two, I'd be a mottled "BLUE"!!!! and totally miserable!

I sure admire how hardy they are...

Thumbs up

Love your picture, Phil!!

From SQUEAKS and SHI, a MOST HAPPY NEW YEAR 2008 TO YOU AND YOUR FEATHERED ONES !!

I, too, am glad that you found no injured ones!

The first time I saw Squeaks do the "elbow wing" bit after a bath, I almost freaked, wondering what was wrong with him! Then, I remembered what I had read on the site! YEAAA for PT!!!

Love, Hugs and Scritches

Just a wish (if I haven't expressed this elsewhere) for a great year for everyone. May your lives be healthy, happy and prosperous. May the love you give so selflessly be returned and multiplied - so that you can give even more!

And may Phil keep posting his touching and insightful messages concerning our little friends and companions: I think we are many here who appreciate them (Phil's posts, that is...as well as our pigeons...um...well, you all know what I mean, right?)

Yeah Maggie does that one elbow thing when she's relaxed. At first I thought she was hurting but as soon as she saw me, up she went, so I knew she wasn't hurt. Funny how they relax. Now that I know what she's doing, I like seeing her boat on one elbow. Then I REALLY know she's relaxed.
