"Footprints in the sand" at my aviary door!

I saw the strangest thing at my loft door yesterday.
After feeding and cleaning the birds, changing the mower deck belt on my mower, mowing the lawn and installing my mother's a/c in 100 degree weather I decided to take a power nap at 4.
Went back out to feed at 6. I have very fine sand around my loft. When I got to the door I noticed footprints - back and forth and circling in the sand at the door- Pigeon size footprints They weren't there before I came inside and I have never seen feral pigeons in my area. There is obviously a bird trying to get into my loft. The strange thing is that they are just at the door ! I walked all around the loft so see if they were anywhere else - no. I looked around in the trees and didn't see anything and I'm not missing any birds.
Gonna keep an eye out for a return visit and I think it would be a good idea for me to have a trap cage ready.
I'm VERY curious as to who's trying to get into my loft
Wouldn't it be nice if it was that "pouter" that was seen loose an hour away from me!

I hope it comes back as it obviously understands aviaries and doors...and where it can find help and companionship if it needs them.!

Well I am now hooked on this cliff-hanger. I just love a mystery. Can't wait to hear the outcome. By the way did you put that sand down on purpose, or is it a natural accumulation?

On purpose! Its a very fine sand that I put in the aviary, easy to sift and rake! And put it around the loft to keep the weeds away and hard for rodents to tunnel in it
