sreeshs: The problem with sibling is that yes, it gets the good and bad from both parents.
While it can give you better traits, it gives you worse flaws.
Let's say there was a gene that coded blindness, Aa, as Trees Gray said. It's oversimplifying it but it will help to understand. If both of the parents carried blindness (Aa x Aa), there is a really high chance that at least one baby will be blind (aa), and it will carry the disease if not (Aa). The chance of not carrying it or showing it (AA) are small, while if only one parent carried blindness (Aa x AA), there is a pretty small chance that they carry it (Aa).

Brother sister mating You keep the gene level the same. half father half mother. But most first generation mating like this you will find none to little problems. unless the family line is already closley related. But its not a needed practice To build any line. BUT has and will crop up on its own When birds are kept together and not regulated.

Ah, yes. Forgot about that detail, I just assumed the loft was more or less related. Since the question was "just in case they decided to mate", I assumed it was non-regulated breeding.

never had a problem with a brother sister mating myself but Im guessing thats because my lines arent all that inbreed to start with
