Not quite here

I am not getting on the Internet too much these days. This is because the wireless connection that let me use the downstairs computer has failed, so I have to use the computer in the front bedroom which is part of the "hospital", so I have to wear a mask and worry about it. That causes me to limit my on-line time.

There is a very bad pigeon situation going on at River Green and there is also an outbreak of PMV, I have 8 indoor patients despite the fact that several that would have come to me have gone to Hallswood. I don't know what I would have done without Hallswood.

My check up with the respiratory medicine specialist showed that my lungs are crackling, I also have episodes of wheezing, so all is not well there. Another reason to avoid exposure to pigeon protein.

I have also developed Erythema Nodosum in both legs and both arms. It hurts. This is sometimes caused by underlying conditions such as psittacosis and sarcoidosis, so I am having tests to see if there is an underlying illness (but 53% of outbreaks are idiopathic.) So I am feeling pretty fragile and protecting my lungs.

However, I usually have a telephone by me, so if anyone needs help, please call! Charis, Jayne, John, Janet , Simone and Cristina have my number.

Cynthia

Cynthia, I'm so sorry to hear you're having such troubles. It makes it very frustrating and discouraging when you're dealing with daily pain. I will certainly keep you in my thoughts and prayers and hope you are feeling better soon.....as well as all your charges.

Buenos dias Cynthia,
I had noticed that you were not posting as usual but I was hoping you were away on some vacation spot. I am very sorry that you are having health problems and trust that you are taking good care of yourself. Can't you have some help to take care of your pigeons until you are fully recovered? This must be somewhat difficult, I know in France it would be unthinkable. I am not a good praying person but believe me I'll be haciendo fuerza for your prompt recovery. Do let us know how you are getting on. Un fuertr brazo, Gladys

Hola Cynthia,

After rereading your message I realize that you are passing some tests to determine if there is an underlying illness causing your problem, hopefully it is not the case but an idiopathic situation amongst the usual 53% cases. I am anxious to know the result of your tests. Un abrazo, Gladys

I am so sorry to hear you have health problems. It must be so frustrating not knowing what is going on. I hope the tests will shed some light and you can start a treatment that will make you feel better.

Thank you Renee, Mary Jayne, Charis, Maggie, Trees, Lindi, Shi and Reti.

And Gladys, che, gracias!

Last weekend John came up for a few days to give me a break, that was wonderful and something I really needed.

EN is a peculiar condition, the pain and inflammation can be mild one minute, the next my worst foot and leg are so swollen that I have difficulty walking. But so far today it has been easy on me, so I have given the aviary a good scrape and scrub. My little indoor patients are undemanding, all they ask for is a deep bowl of food, clean water and clean bedding...that is, except for My Little Angel who is very fragile and surviving on Poly Aid. She would appreciate a few prayers and positive thoughts.

None of these is going back to the green !

Cynthia

I am so sorry to hear about your health problem and the condition of the River Green flock.
For someone who loves pigeons so much it is so devastating to worry about pigeon protein being harmful.

I hope you feel better soon.
