OP (out of Pigeon) but bird story :)

This is a good one! "Although the outcome was not exactly humorous, the episode certainly has elements that make one wonder about whether (as some people believe) a person's spirit can return following death in some other form of life ---with graceful Swans frequently playing a leading role as the embodiment of the poor departed soul.

Well, according to the Post's "Reliable Source," it seems that this past April when former cabinet secretary Margaret Heckler attended the funeral of her ex-husband (from whom she had experienced a very messy divorce but was said to have patched up relations somewhat following his remarriage to his second wife), she paused briefly at her ex-husband's estate to greet his favorite pet Swan named Fred. Fred must have recognized her, for he immediately swam over to the bank, climbed up the slope and gave the first Mrs. Heckler a nasty gash on her leg, which not only required six stitches to close, but has become infected and is still presenting medical complications that will require long-term treatment!

Now, I confess that there sometimes exist aggressiveness between you Humans ---and particularly between ex-spouses following divorce--- but this is the first instance we know of that hostility taking the form of a deceased husband's spirit returning to haunt his former wife in the form of a Swan. Thanks Suz .. interesting and somewhat funny story if you weren't the recipient of the swan's "intentions" ..

There was an old pair of Mute Swans being retired from Disneyland here in So. Cal. I was able to get them placed with my friend, Bart. They had three "babies" not too long ago .. if you can call a mute swan cygnet a "baby" .. my goodness, they were huge "babies". Such beautiful birds, but I can well imagine that a wing whack from one would do some serious damage.
