Pigeons/head trauma/egg laying?

Do pigeons with head trauma or PMV have any problems laying eggs

I have a pigeon Malichi Caruso, he/she showed up around February with a throat full of canker. I'm not sure why he is the way he is PMV, head trauma or maybe the canker caused some kind of nerve damage.

Anyway he/she has been nesting in the seed bowl. I have a basket in there and I did order one of those nesting bowls. For the moment I turned the seed bowl into a nesting bowl and put another seed dish in there. Seed bowl looks uncomfortable to me so I wanted to give him some options.

I'm not sure if M.C. is going to lay and egg but between the nesting in the bowl and the big poops I've been wondering. With his condition I'm just wondering if I should expect anything unusual. He already stresses out at times and has his challenges, I guess I'm just concerned if M.C. lays and egg if it's gonna freak him/her out.

Well at least one of mine has no problems laying eggs. She is a trauma case and not PMV. Took her a long time to settle in enough to lay eggs, but she does and with no problems. She is with another disabled female so there are no potential babies, but she does just fine with the eggs.

Thank you for your info.

M.C. is settled in but not when I'm around. He stresses out when I clean out the cage. I'm not really sure why he likes that bowl so much but if it's an egg laying thing, I'm just worried about stressing him out even more.

She/he is still in the bowl. There are some nice looking droppings so I know he's been out of the bowl sometime during the day (just got home from work).

Thank you again,
Kim

You can also give supportive care for Malichi, not knowing exactly what he/she has, by giving some bewers yeast/calcium supplement for the nerves and great for anti-stress. Be sure to supplement with probiotics too, best to use with Brewers yeast, and for anti-stress. If you suspect head trauma, arnica montana is one excellent product that has been used very successfully by our bird rehabber for many years for all cases of trauma and especially head trauma.

I'm wondering when he had canker, if the canker caused nerve damage that affected his neck. I know his throat was full of it but who knows where else the canker was.

The use and acceptance of the value of probiotics is well established. This super product includes water soluble brewer’s yeast, probiotic and acidophilus. 3 - 5 tablespoons per gallon as often as you want.

They have this at Foy's. Will this work?
