sexingHi everyone i am looking to split my birds for the winter is there an easy way to tell hen from cock other than behavior.

Some say by the neck, I think the males have a skinny neck. And there is another way if you pick it up someway and put them back down, if they keep there wings out its a female and its a male if they put there wings back down. I'm sure its just an ol' wise tale. I think if it lays an egg its a female. lol. Just joking dooie. I hope others can help you because I want to know the answer to. min

when they are nesting, I will note down the band # of the hen when she lays eggs and note the band # of her mate, as they take turns on the nest... the cock birds are a bit bigger sometimes and roo coo and have bigger necks...sometimes... a cock bird without a mate will try to display to get a mate, they roo coo and flare their tails and bow and follow the hens around.the hens are the ones usually running from the obnoxiouse males trying to whoo her...lol...but of course that is not a definate way to tell.
