Strange roosting places...?

One of our rescue pigeons, Ladybird, has had a very long convalescence from a broken leg, damaged wing and some very nasty wounds, after (probably) being hit by a car. She is now in the aviary, and on Saturday night Cynthia went into the 'shed' to medicate our Blackie, and spotted Ladybird roosting .... on top of a lettuce

I had placed a whole lettuce in a dish to stop it rolling about, and Ladybird evidently decided it was a good perch, from which she was only disturbed with Cynthia having to get past.

What odd places do anyone else's pigeons choose?

(Oh, yes, I have one on the balcony who always roosts on the head of a plastic owl).

Oh, no, that can't be true! I just read that pigeons are deathly afraid of owls, fake or otherwise! He he he. I think the best perch my former-indoor pigeons ever found back in the day was my golden retriever, Meg. They loved to sit on her, sleep on her, and even steal her fur for nesting (which she bore with the utmost patience and motherliness, bless her heart). Someone thought they had a good idea the other night in the tent, and tried to roost on Fussy Gussy (the chicken). That didn't go over so well at all!! I used to have an indoor turtle "pond" (a big kiddie pool) with a rock formation in the middle, and I had a pij who would roost on the rocks during the night for some reason. My Pierre made a beautiful nest in an indoor plant, with a huge pot, she got right in under the leaves, dug a nice spot in the dirt, and brought all kinds of stuff to it for a nest. She was "mated" to me, and the plant was in the kitchen on the fridge (I don't know why, it just was), and she sat there all hours of the day and night, calling me and thrilled whenever I went into the kitchen. Mrs. Bird prefers to sit on a two-inch bit of stick that extends from the doves' cage in the tent, though I can't see how it's comfortable lol. She precariously balances there each night and rocks around until she's steady. Pigeons are so silly.

Lately Rainbow's favorite perch is my head and he lands there when I'm in the birds room. I've been trying to get him to stay on my shoulder but he thinks the my head is safer and easier to land on

John, aren't they just interesting and brave birds?

Speaking of odd places, here is a picture of Tooter conquering the eagle, which has been posted here before in the past. This was taken about 6 months before he beat up the live hawk and went off on his 7 month plus adventure...
