Well i bought 2 pair and a loan hen from the pigeonpeddler website

They are all starlings but he shipped all 5 birds in one box. To top it all off one was dead on arrival and the others aren't in very good shape. On the plus side they are here and I am doing my best to care for them.

I would report him. What's the web site? What exactly is the problem with the ones who are alive? How long did it take for them to get to you? What size box did he ship them in?

Well the ones that are ok are to my standards emaciated or dehydrated very light. According to the tracking number they left tuesday evening and where at my P.O.at like 8:30 they were picked up at 9. The box is about 1.5' long by 6-8" wide I am guessing the smallest box they make would be to small for an old english gamefowl chicken. And the pigeon that was dead looked like it may have been dead before it was sent just by looking at the eyes they were sunk in the head extremely far.

I've got to run.........first of all, the boxes that birds are shipped in are SUPPOSED to have a window so that the PO workers can see inside the box. Obviously, the box either doesn't have one or no one checked.
I think this should be reported, but not sure who to report it to. I'm sure this person isn't a member of any of the national organizations, so that would go no where fast.
Hopefully someone can come up with some ideas. If he did it to you, he'll do it to others and all he's doing is ripping people off and treating the birds like they're just trash.
It wouldn't do for him to ship ME birds like that. My blood is boiling...........

You can start with the US Postal Service.

What exactly should I tell the post office. The only reason I am asking is becasue this is the first time I have ever reported anyone for something of this stature never came across it before. I bought a pair of starlings from eggbid and one of their off spring and they arrived in excellent condition I can see how someone like this would drive a newbie away from the pigeon hobby.

It appears whoever sent the birds didn't do so correctly & they should have known better.
The PO should never have allowed the box to be shipped if it wasn't large enough to accommodate the number of birds sent.

SOMEONE needs to be held accountable.

If you haven't already done so, I would suggest taking pictures of the birds (to include the dead one) & the box in which they were sent. Make copies of them & the tracking information to present to whoever you speak with.

Always keep any original pictures and paperwork in your possession.

I could be wrong, but I believe the person is also a member here on PT.

Some youtube vids of his were posted on here a while back and many members stepped up about the concern of too many birds. Others came to his defense and said that they had purchased healthy birds from him.

Did you see the birds before purchasing them and having them sent to you?
I think an UTD photo would have shown what shape/health they were in. This is where I am kinda confused.

The time of death could be VERY hard to indicate. It is hot almost everywhere right now, so almost everyone isn't shipping. Just because a person has good temps for their state, the states that the birds have to go through could be VERY hot. What I am getting at, is I think it is very possible that the bird died during shipping...if it died over night in a box, and then found...I think it'd be hard to really tell if it was dead before put in the box. Even more so if the bird is in a small box with four other birds. Getting a vets oppinion might help. I'd freeze the dead one and get it to the vet in the morning.

Like Charis stated, I start at the Postal Service. Most guarentee them being alive opon arrivel.

I'd also would automatical contact the person I got the bird from. Any time I have birds shipped to me, I call the breeder/previous owner after I have gotten them and checked them out. I let them know how the bird or birds arrived.

I'm not standing up for any anyone, I'm just stating what I think.

Also how did you go about purchasing these...just through contact with him or through a site like eggbid?

The bird that died probaly was crowed and also to many birds in the box made for more heat. The other birds should recover in a few days Might get pedialite for them to drink to hydrate them well. And keep feed in front of them 24/7 for a few days. A complaint to the post office may be the wrong thing. AS shipping birds has been an issue And may do more harm to the people that ship birds the right way. This person used the wrong size box PERHAPS to save money who knows Best thing now is get the birds healthy and might bring this to the persons attention. And hopefully he or she does not do it agin.
