If you ask the people who are against feeding...you ALWAYS get the BS about disease etc.

The greater part of published stories about pigeons always has a line or two about how ''diseased and infective'' city pigeons are. Even the Health Dep't gives you a ticket based on how your feeding pigeons will harm your neighbors. Yes, they cite the droppings as the biggest source of these '' diseases''. Fact is the droppings that are in the areas that are rained on are usually washed away with the next rain. If these lazy people would just hose the covered areas, like under the bridges, there wouldn't be an accumulation of ''disease'' bearing droppings. Educating the pigeon haters is like trying to fill a bucket with water when there is a big hole in the bottom.

It's a great idea, only problem is, so very many of NYC feeders are little old ladies! Can you just visualize one walking to the feeding place with a power washer under her arm? Fact is, God takes care of most of the cleaning and little old ladies should be able to enjoy just being little old ladies.
