Why are you! dealing with pigeons? (What do you like about it?)

see i am in it just for fun because there is nothing to do in the small town i live in and most teen's turn to drugs and violince and i'm not like that so i picked up this hobby to sorta be different you know what i meen... well i got these birds for free and spent money to build a coop then feed for me is 15 dollars every two weeks for 2 years it add's up to be alot you know then when i have offspring that i can not show or raise(due to lack off space) finding suitable homes for the birds then lowering the cost off them from ($60.00 a pair a year ago) to $10.00 a pair now this is becomming a very expensive hobbie for me espcialy because i am unimploy'd because of all the factory layoff's around my area young ppl dont have jobs anymore... but i love it alot and i dont see me ever getting out of them there to much fun they give you the enjoyment of bringing a new life into the world and watching it grow them make new life.. it's enjoyable to me...

As it is to all of us. There sure is no real money in it! LOL! It is relaxing, rewarding, AND fun. Some one i knew, said a long time ago. "Surround your self with life, and you will really live"

Right now, i have Birmingam rollers, Oriental rollers, and cross of the two i am working with. (they can really roll) I have, coming from an old friend, a pair or two of Richie kaisers birds, sad to say deceased, (stock brummie got from him, and now reside at another friends house in Wis.) from the Chicago combine, i will be housing, (Hopefully). and MAYBE do some one loft races. NEVER spend an evening B.Sing with an old pigeon flying friend! LOL!
Last year i also had a small family of tipplers, and a Hen Homer, breed out of a Detroit stray. I gave those last fall to a local kid i have Known since he was in my sons class in 2nd grade class. That was before i figured out my hawk system! And they were critical to it. ALWAYS analize last years loft history/performance before making changes, i know it,knew it, BUT what can i say. Dave

You are wise to specialize, hey that rhymed! I have been out of it for 3 or 4 years and am figuring out which breed i want keep as my main breed. I am sure it will be oriental rollers, just have to find a strain that flys an rolls. i HAVE 4 beautiful Orientals, that Besege from this sight gave me they will be my foundation. One excellent Almound cock, and 3 great kite hens(related), so i need to pick up two more cocks, In the past i have kept, Runts, White Kings, Modenas, Rollers, Homers, Tipplers, Budapest high fliers(one pair) Fantails, Ferals, (my first pigeons) not a lot of each, but also, Owls, Jacobins, and one of my favorites, that i would not mind having again, Pigmy Pouters.
