Why did my pigeon stop egg laying?

Hello - I have an 04 Frillback hen. I have just purchased it from a breeder because it was not laying eggs. Any tips as to ways to get the hen to start laying again?

Do you have any history on the bird, like the lineage and if there is any line-breeding or inbreeding?

Sometimes birds will quit laying (pigeon menopause) and there is nothing you can do about it, sometimes it can be other issues, like oviduct disease or infections, or she may need a little help with extra vitamin E and calcium and more.

I would find a good vet (who really knows pigeons) and/or pigeon rehabber and get their opinion after an initial thorough exam of the bird.

If she can't lay anymore that may be a blessing as it takes alot out of a hen to lay eggs...as long as she is healthy of course.....Im sure you bought her because you wanted to give her a good home as you already knew she did not lay eggs.....why do you want her to lay again?
