"We do not know what to do with the pigeon," Pojavnik added. "But for the time being it will remain behind bars."
So, do we have any members in Bosnia that can pick up the pij?

Very sad for the pij....

Totally agree..those poor pigeons.

I guess IF the program is closed or suspended then the pigeons will either be released or put down?

We've had people in countries near there, but they might as well be a world away. Myrpaloma might know some resources or a network there. The other members that I'm thinking of were just folks who'd rescued a single bird here and there, like Cydonian in Belgrade:

Remarkable! Perhaps I can train Dinky to do my shopping!...

Can't help wondering how someone who can't get out of prison can train a pigeon to come back home over such a great distance.
I can just imagine it going to town (with no prior training), spotting the dealer, haggling over the price, handing over the money and flying back... right...
I reckon someone just outside the prison walls, a visitor or a corrupt guard procured the drugs and the pigeon was just a convenient excuse, whether the drugs were tied to its legs or not.

If there is a member near the area, they would probably have to keep the pigeon confined indoors, but while this story holds sway the authorities are unlikely to release the pigeon for fear that it should restart its criminal activities! They should recruit it as a double agent and then re-house it in a different country with a new identity!

If the the pij was caught at tent city, Joe Arpaio would probably take him home. He's an animal person.

The cage bars are too wide apart to keep a pigeon there, possible prison break.

I'm curious to know how they are caring for this pij.

Me too, I feel SO sorry for that poor bird, he is not guilty of anything.

Oh no, not I, lol! But if the authorities in Bosnia really believe that any pet pigeon can be a homer, and in this case a runner, they might also believe he could become a mole, and rat on the dealer!

On a more serious note, I've had a look around but can't find any update to the story. I wonder if by now they've come to their senses and handed it back to its owner.

Poor little guy, only doing what he was told to, but maybe now he's getting better care if his owner is in jail. I'm not trying to say anything mean because I don't know but I've herd of drinkers giving their dogs booze and stuff, you never know. Maybe birdy jail in passadise compared to human jail. LOL
