Young Pigeon foundI found a young pigeon and i'm not quite sure how old it is but it has most of it's feathers except for under wings and head. Still has some yellow down sticking out here and there. I've had it for a few days and had feeding it exact formula and i introudced some mashed bananas yesterday. Just a very small amount in my hand. Now today it has diarrhea. I don't know what to do at this point. It seems active and still wants to eat but is there anything i can give it to relieve the diarrhea? Please help i hate to see something go wrong if i can make it better.

Continue with the Exact. Cut out the bananas. Pigeons aren't fruit eaters.

Can we see a picture of the poop and the Pigeon? Are you allowing the crop to empty before feeding? Are you making the formula fresh each feeding?

I don't know if you can see the poo in the picture but it's a green swirlie with clear liquid around it. Up untill today it was green lines with white and clear around it. Sorry for being such a newbie but i'm so worried now after reading all the posts lol

I believe the crop is empty before i feed it. I'm going around 5 hours between feedings so at or around 6, 11, and 5 today

Just don't feed any more fruit and stick to the Kaytee, and he'll be fine.
You can get some seeds and spread around, and use your finger to "peck" at them so he gets the idea. He will play with them for a few days and then pick it up eventually. Try giving him a dish of water --under supervision--and see if he'll drink yet. ![]()

Quote:
The crop is located just below the throat. When the food goes in, it fills up like a little balloon and feels squishy to the touch. You can check it after each feeding and then before so you can feel the difference.

Nice observation Charis! Maybe he/she needs to feed the baby more.
