cannot fix his leghi ive tried to fix his sprayed leg using the bandaged method of taping them together for the last 3 weeks, he can walk better now but his leg still isnt in the normal position it should be, will he be able to live with it now or should i just carry on taping them up for a few more weeks? any more ideas welcome

Can you post a picture of the chick's legs? How old is he now--about five weeks? There is a point at which it becomes difficult to correct them because as they mature the tendons and so forth tighten and can "freeze" in the wrong position. It really depends on how bad the splay is and what is going on with the joints and tendons.
I had a pigeon chick this spring that was not correctable and required surgery just to keep the leg from pointing backwards. But I also had a dove chick that was pretty badly splay-legged and I was successful at getting his legs in the right position by keeping them hobbled for a couple weeks even after he left the nest. He still has some difficulties when stressed, but for the most part can stand and perch normally. |

The older the chick, the more time is needed. I would carry on taping.
