I've been too busy at work but I was able to locate a website that sold Baytril 250mg. I just finished ordering their 500 tablets bottle now and hopefully I don't get any problems. I just realized that each tablet will need to be cut into 1/2 or 1/4 for medication, I guess I'll medicated most of my birds.

Would it harm the bird if I medicated them with Baytril and they was not infected or sick? How old the bird has to be before medicating with Baytril?

Where did you find the Baytril?

Just got them yesterday but they came in a relabeled container. Does any one have a picture of their Baytril. The ones I received are white, small oval shape. It has an R on one side and the number 126 on the other. THey are supposed to be 250mg...

Are they from Canada?
You will need to cut them into much smaller pieces than 1/2 or 1/4.
Look in the resourse section for the Baytril dosing chart.

Thanks for the response. Not sure where they are from. I know the dosing and already had purchase a pill cutter but just wanted to make sure what I received are real Baytril tablets before I start medicating my birds.

It's going to be real hard to cut those pills small enough.

I checked the web and found that what I actually received are Ciproflaxin 250mg. Is the dosing still the same as the Baytril. Is this the equivalent or less than Baytril as far as potency as an antibiotic? Do you guys recommend that I use these or return them? Thanks in advance..

Click here for more info on cipro

Cipro and Baytril are pretty much the same thing. Cipro is often used instead of Baytril. So, you can go ahead and use it.

The Cipro will work as well as Baytril. Rather than cutting the tablets up you could dissolve one in water .. using 10 cc/ml of water would give 25 mg of Cipro per cc/ml.

Thanks for the help/ responses. I used my pill cutter and it was easy cutting it in half but not much smaller than that. Lucky I found these, I've been getting some visitors (mainly lost racers) at my loft and I would feed them outside my loft and they usually leave after a few hours rest. Some even trapped into the loft and I let them out after feeding. Past 2 days I had birds come by that looked so weak that I caught them and kept them in my sick bay cage. I even gave them a dose of Cipro before letting them loose today since they looked better, more agile and energetic.
