Air sac rupture may occur either because mechanical damage – baby fell from nest box, bacterial infection – treatment with antibiotic is required or canker infection – Spartrix.
I would treat for canker with ½ Spartrix pill for 3 days. Use sterile needle, q-tip and alcohol. Swab skin with alcohol in the area where accumulation of air occurred and puncture skin carefully. Massage area gently to take the air off. Keep baby warm and in semi-dark quiet place. If possible not to move too much and flap wings. Wing flapping is what fills air sac with air. I would recommend treatment of parents with Spartrix too. No point to treat baby only. Try hand-feeding baby instead returning it to the nest. |

If you have canker, all your birds should be treated. Not just the parents. It spreads through the loft. If you don't treat all of them, they can just pass it back and forth. That baby may need to be treated longer then 3 days. I'd go with five.

I am so thrankful for all of the more experienced members who responded to you and gave you advice. I hope the baby is doing better
