I'm thinking about throwing in the towel
Hi everyone,
I got a baby pigeon about 5 maybe 6 weeks old from the local dog pound. When he came in just over 3 weeks ago he was covered in Lice crawling all over him, he came in extremely emaciated at 260 grams with no muscle mass in his chest at all. I treated him for the lice and they have all disappeared and then wormed him with ivermectin. Almost 2 weeks later I see worms in his poo moving around. I re-worm him 14 days later after the first time and this time I used Panacure. Seem to get some weight on him then a few days later he throws everything back up again and his weight goes back down again. He is trying so hard to fight and eat and everything but i think he is losing his battle to fight. I have called 3 vets as far away as 60 miles away to see if they will look at this bird and no one will see him. I noticed his droppings are starting to get a tiny bit of blood in them and that really concerns me alot, he also after I feed him his formula he does alot of coughing or sneezing. I do not know what else I can do for him and I haven't slept real good cause I am trying so friggin hard to keep him alive just wondering what the hell is going on is killing me. Am I just fighting an uphill battle? Since I have wormed him I haven't seen any worms. His poos are watery and yellowish. I have checked his throat and that looks good, Wattle is dry and clear. Eyes bright and beautiful. All I can say is: HELP im going nuts!
Thanks
Cindy
