here are two contacts I found, if you can get the bird in the bathroom or something and put the cage on a heating pad on low would be good with a towel in the cage for now would be good.
Robert MacLean Orleans New Orleans amphibians, reptiles, birds, mammals (504) 212-5489 Sarah Farrell Orleans New Orleans birds (504) 866-7260 I did sent info via email as well.

She has email me, She thinks she can keep the bird as long as it gets a vets clearance first. She has a parrot that she has to be in the same car with and is worried about that. What can she do to get it home in the same car without causing any danger to the parrot incase the pigeon is sick? Any advice? min

rescueso yes i have tried to contact several ppl and no one has called back yet - some of the ppl i did get in touch with said no - due to disease transmission (worthless groups if you ask me)
anyway, Polly is her name, and her new home with with us. we'll be going home tomorrow ( i work out of town) and she'll be going with us (me and my parrot). my honey is supportive of this (big surprise actually) and we hope to give this little girl the chance she truly deserves. she has an injured wing of that i'm sure, and she is completely lacking any tail feathers at all! i am guessing she must have been hit inside the parking garage at the hospital where i work since a few patients had said they saw her yesterday as well. so she's in a cage chowing down like there is no tomorrow - thats a really good sign she's not overaly skiddish yet still stand offish enough to make me realize that she is alert and oriented to her surroundings... i actually had to chase her a bit today to catch her ![]() will post more once i get more to tell! |

Sounds to me like she may have survived a Hawk attack and you need to check her over carefully for puncture wounds.

I think it will be fine. I would do it. Just practice good hygiene by washing your hands after handling one and before handling the other. Wash their dishes separately, etc. When you get to where you are going, have the Pigeon checked out by a vet that understand Pigeons and has treated Pigeons before. If you need help finding one that meets that criteria, I can help you with that...just ask. Don't let a vet talk you into euthanizing the Pigeon. Talk to us first.
Have a safe drive.

If you transport them together, you may cover her cage/box with cloth. That will reduce stress and minimize risks of disease transmittion. Only PMV is very contagious disease transmitted easily, but this doesn’t seem to be the case. Basic hygiene is a must.
