That is wonderful, this poor guy found a loving home. I am so glad.
Sounds like you a loyal friend there. Reti |

This has been niggling me all night. I know that I am probably being silly, just put this down to a desire to learn! I couldn't find a pic of a Marchenero Pouter and I have never seen a pouter in real life...nor have I seen a pigeon with a ruptured airsac but I wonder if I could tell the difference as in the photos that I have looked at there is a similarity.
Is there any possibility at all that this pigeon has airsac damage ? Cynthia

Hi everyone,
It's been awhile because I've been laid up with a bulging disk, a kidny stone and I just had an MRI yesterday, as they think it's a nerve problem also. Geez, what getting older will do. My body feels old, but not my brain Pouter is doing better and better everyday. he's been getting around the garage like it's home We have a refridgerator and standing freezer out there. The fridge has a tiffany light hanging over it and he lays under the light to sleep, which is great cuz I can see him from the house through the garage window What's really funny is he can see me. I wave and he immediately turns his head and watches me. They really can see better than humans. I think I will try to get out there today and open the garage door, because he was perched on the window yesterday and I don't want him to feel like a prisoner (eventhough he has free range out there and poop tobe cleaned up all over) but I don't care about the poop. He acts so happy where he is and I really don't want him to fly away, buyt I want to know if he wants to go and let him know he can stay here forever. Any info on that would be appreciated.About a pic, I don't have a camera, only a web cam. I have thought about seeing if I could get him in here to my computer room to take some pics, but I worried about Jack (the cat) scaring him into flying all over. I will try to get you guys some pics, but how do I post them? Well I'm off to visit with Pouter and see how he's doing. Talk soon Suzanne |

Hi Suzanne,
Please don't let him go. If he is pouter then he will not have learnt how to look after himself in the wild, he will end up in the same state that you found him and might not be so lucky next time. Sorry that you have been so ill! Cynthia

Try not to blame yourself, so many of us have had similar things happen!
Leave the door open, the lamp on and food and water available,,,he might well come back as he was comfortable in his new home. Cynthia.

Suzanne,
Try not to be too upset....you went above and beyond to help Pouter, and as Cynthia said, he just may come back....please wait and see and keep faith. Good luck and I will keep my fingers crossed for you.... Linda |

Thank you so much, I feel so down. I was up every hour last night looking to see if I could see him. I will be watching all day to see if he comes home. I really never thought he would fly away and when he did it broke my heart. He kept looking at me as enough to say "thank you for your help", then felt free and flew away. I thought I was doing the right thing and now I am just worried. Thank you for all your help here, this is a great forum
