news on dobbyhey thanks to all who posted all the help to me on caring for the wild pigeon i found....
he is doing very well and he is very bright and alert and acting like a normal pigeon again. i took him to my tutor, who is a vet, and she checked him over and said he was as healthy as a bird can get and his fracture is healing up nicely and i am able to release him back into the wild next weekend and i cant wait to see him fly again . i was wondering what i could do to get him ready to be released so he is able to survive by himself.hayley |

Hi Hayley,
Thanks for the update on the pij you are caring for. i was wondering what i could do to get him ready to be released so he is able to survive by himself. Make sure he is able to fly without any problems. This is vital. If you have a room which you could allow him to free fly & really test his wings would be great. Make sure he is able to get from one point to another without becoming grounded. Make sure he is eating, drinking, preening & 'pooping' normally. He shouldn't be dependant upon you for anything. It always makes me feel more at ease about releasing a pigeon that I have rescued & nursed back to health when they begin to wing slap. Please keep us posted on the little one's progress. Let us know how he is doing before he is released. Cindy ![]()
