Question

Pesto hurt her wing

Hi everyone. I have a question my son Ryan went to go get Pesto out of her cage and she wing slapped him twice hard. Why? Don't know she has never done this before anyways her right wing is hurt and her wing from the flight feathers to the tip is droppy, should I take her in or what should I do? I do not believe it is broke but maybe bruised alittle. Everything else on her is fine except she wants to cuddle alot with me like she wants me to make the hurt go away.

Cindy, I doubt a wing slap would cause a break so I would just keep an eye on her for the next few days. It is probably just a bit sore. I wouldn't let her out to fly around.

I remember that Pesto is about 12 years old so I don't know if that would make her bones more brittle? Hope someone, maybe Pidgey, can speak to that.

Hope she is all better by tomorrow. I know you love her dearly.

Yes she is 12 and adorable with her personality Almost kind of a big baby too. I think that is what I will do. I highly doubt there are any broken bones or I think she would show more of her "Please baby me Mama" signs. Just hurt. ok Thank You Maggie

Maybe he picked her up in an aea that is hurt or inflamed? Does she have any swelling in the wing, does it feel different from the other when you run your fingers thru them, gently..of course?

Meanwhile some extra nutirion, like alfalfa might help.

ok Treesa I will try that as well. Nothing feels different and today is much better than yesterday or the day before. She just wing slapped him a couple of times hard, maybe too hard and hurt her wing. My son is going to be 18 and helps with the birds so I know he wasn't picking her up wrong. She may not have wanted to be picked up this time.
