pigeon w/ eye problemshey i found a pigeon yesterday in a theatre parking lot. I walked up to it, and it didn't fly away. As i got closer, i realized that something was wrong with its eyes. i didn't want to leave it in the parking lot, since someone might hurt it. I caught it by softly dropping a blanket on it and took it home. the pigeon's name is chicken joe, off of surf's up.
i think the bird still has eyes and they are dried up, but im not sure. I plan on taking this bird to the vet tomorrow, but i wanted to know how to care for it. I have dipped its beak in some water, and given it little pieces of bread. So far, i have not seen it eat or drink. but, he does clean himself often, so i don't think he is extremely sick. any help would be appreciated! thanks! ![]() |

Thank you for rescuing this very needy bird.
Can you post pictures of the bird's , especially the eyes? Please follow this link first: http://www.pigeons.biz/forums/showthread.php?t=8822 You probably should hand feed after following the guidelines on this thread, if he doesn't eat. Pigeons are seed and legume eaters, and a wild bird seed mix will do for now. Please make sure the vet is "pigeon friendly" as we have seen too many that just want to put them to sleep. Where are you located, perhaps we can get you some help?
