Paloma went to the vet todayHello everyone!
Very good news, I got a vet to see her today. Vet is saying she is around 2-3 months old, weight is 0.447 kg she is under weight but is doing well..He poop has no parasites and vet said poops look good. She is on an antibiotic for the foot and toe also got a pain killer for her foot. No mites or fleas , clear eyes, a slight upper respiratory sound but vet believes it is due to stress from being a poultry bird and the conditions she was in. All in all breathing heart and lungs sound good .Infection on foot is more likely due to a cut and poop getting into the cut. She might loose a toe nail but we can live with that! She is on the antibiotic for 7 days pain meds for 4. She was eating very well last night on her own. I think she is happy in her little house, after she eats and flys around the room a bit she returns to her house. I am charging the camera right now so I will put some pics up of her asap.... The vet thanked me for saving the bird but I told her it was mostly because of you all that she is still alive! ![]() I called dept of Agriculture to report the poultry shop and was told the way the shop works is on a loop hole that after you purchase a bird you are the legal owner of the animal and you are paying them for their service of slaughtering it. So that is how they stay in business. She said they do monthly inspections on the poultry shop to make sure birds are being treated as best as possible. She was very familiar with the shop and was amazed my bird had not yet died. She said other call her that try to save bird also but the birds die after a few days so we all did a great job with her!! Thank you guys! |

standing on both feet today...Good afternoon,
The bird is standing on both feet today so I am guessing it feels a bit better and is able to put some weight on it. Also she is eating like a pig. I mean the whole food dish is empty ! The only things left are the seeds she does not like. The weight printed on the vet bill says 0.447 KG... I don't know what a pigeon should weigh unless the wrong weight was entered by mistake at the vet. |

She's doing great. You have done a wonderful job, and saved a life. You should feel great. One lucky little bird.
