Responding to PostsRenee, I decided to start a new thread about the question you raised in another thread about responding to posts.
When the crop suctioning "stuff" first started, I was curious about "Jenfer's" background and checked her user profile and found no information, so I then started reading her threads and posts. I can't remember exactly how many, but I think there were three threads she started, asking for help/information, that had no response. That concerned me even then. So, it is not something that has just started happening with the "controversial" thread. I don't know how many others there are. The thing is, none of us can stay on the forum 24/7. At best, I come on as much as I can and immediately go to the Sick/Injured thread and then the "I found a pigeon" thread and respond to whatever I can. We all have private lives. Also, responses I make are within my experience and ability. I have noticed that many people who used to respond frequently no longer do so - for what reason, I have no idea. I don't have a solution but I don't think the controversial thread has anything to do with it because I have noticed it before now.

I briefly went back to Jennifer's threads/posts and will correct myself. There was one with no response and a couple that had 1 or 3 responses.

OH, I totally agree with you. HOWEVER........if no one responds to a thread, even if it appears, because of the little green light, that they are on line, I can't assume that they ARE on line and just aren't paying attention. I know all too well how many times people come here with a question and don't get an answer right away.
BUT,..when someone has a question or concern and I can see that there WERE people on line, posting at, AND after the post with the question, and they didn't answer, then, yes, the thread in this instance WAS getting in the way. And those that were posting were WELL qualified to answer this new person. I'm not saying that the forum has gone to pot because of this one particular thread but it certainly didn't help the person last night. I will tell you, that I have a problem with people coming for help and not getting a response. And it's MY problem, no one elses. I realize people have lives...........sometimes I think that I must NOT have a life, because I DO spend a pretty significant amount of time on PT. Probably more than I should. This "problem" is why I had to give up 911 Pigeon Alert. I was so obsessed with the lost birds and getting them back to the owners or getting them to SOMEONE, that it took over my life. I spent countless hours sitting at this computer, taking 50, 60, 70 cases at one time.......I didn't want to go anywhere, I didn't want to cook, I didn't want to clean, I just wanted to help all those lost birds and it became a huge problem. And this is no reflection on anyone else who was working 911 at the time. THEY were doing other things that were JUST AN IMPORTANT as 911 and I knew that, but I couldn't say to myself, "you've got enough on your plate......don't take or do anymore"......I couldn't just walk away and hope for the best. If I'm on PT and see a post made, I have no problem sending a PM to a moderator or a member who I think can help. Just ask them....they'll tell ya. ![]() So, I surely don't want THIS thread to become a distraction or argument or anyone feeling that they have to post and "explain" why they don't do more or post more or whatever............that's not what my post in the other thread was about. It was about what happened last night/early morning, and a wake up call I hope that the thread was really getting out of hand and was not resolving anything as far as I could tell. So, now I'm going to see who's posted while I was writing this. ![]() I love all of you guys.....................and we've got THE most wonderful community of people anywhere on the web as far as I'm concerned and I want it to stay that way.

Hi Maggie,
I am sure that no one can dispute the fact that it impossible for any one person to be on this site 24/7. We all do have lives and personal things to attend to outside of Pigeon-Talk. The point I was trying to make, and it had nothing to do with Jennifer's posts, was that I personally found it disgraceful and personally insulting that simultaneously as people were posting and asking for help for serious issues, people choose to keep posting to the endless thread, being more concerned with proving their particular point of view, than rather helping the people that had pressing and serious conditions at hand. I am sure you will agree, that if people had the time to respond to the endless thread they could have taken time to also respond to the truly needy. I for one, are more concerned with the needs and concerns of the birds than agreeing or disagreeing with any particular point of view of what has become to me as an exercise in futility in trying to get anything resolved on that particular thread. Regards, Louise |

Many times the phone will ring or I go to remove clothes from the washer/dryer or go check the water in the aviary, or whatever & completely forget I'm online & go about doing other things, ever running errands. It is misleading. I'm trying to get better at remembering to log out. Cindy

, so, the very person I/you/we may be looking for, might be right there and you don't know it. That's a personal choice of course and I don't care one way or the other.....just saying........![]()

I too, was not trying to single any one person/persons either.
I was just trying to get the priorities in perspective. Louise |
