What year is on the band? Sounds like this might be an older racer as opposed to a young one.

Well, there are pigeons that are real sweethearts but more often than not, when a stranger picks one up they're not generally too happy about it unless they're REALLY tame.
What does that mean "he's calling his people"? Is he pretty close by and either coming over to get the bird or sending someone else to pick it up? Pidgey |

Well, for The Meaning of Life, you might want to go to another forum...
I expect that this bird is a racer, but I could be wrong about that. There are a few different kinds of pigeons like racers (that they take miles away and race them back to their home loft), rollers (that fly in a "kit", or group, up above their home loft and perform acrobatics just for fun), tumblers (that do much the same thing except in a reverse roll to the rollers), fancies (show pigeons, of which there are many different kinds too numerous to list) and ferals (wild ones that mostly come from lost birds of the other kinds). There are many different kinds of discussions here but some of the more active members (active on the forum, people who type a lot and just won't shut up, like me) are rehabbers who don't care what kind of pigeon it is, we'll try to help it if it's lost, hurt or sick. Or, more to the point, we'll try to help you help the bird under the circumstances. And thanks so much for helping this one, by the way! You MUST be a good soul! That's why he came to you--they can detect that kind of thing, you know. Pidgey Last edited by Pidgey; 26th February 2008 at 05:16 PM. |
