Swollen Legged Baby Update-Time to Hobble Legs?

My little guy with the swollen legs seems to be improving daily! His left leg we cut the band off is still swollen between the ankle and the hock but going down. The swelling on his right leg has gone completely down and I have seen him curling/flexing his toes on both legs and he is standing up more often, very clumsily but standing.

BUT...........now we are back to the original problem that started this whole saga his right leg slips out to the side when he tries to use it. Since I don't want to tape around the ankles due to the one still being swollen I need to make a shackle. I don't suppose anyone knows an exact measurement as to how far apart their legs are supposed to be?????
