Swollen ThroatAbout 5 months ago, I rescued one of my rollers from a hawk. It was a 2 months old baby and was in training. The next day, throat of the roller started to be swollen and made the poor bird look like a pouter in couple of days. First I thought it was infected by the hawks shin, and gave her antibiotics and tried to feed her myself. Her neck got swollen so much that she could not get down to eat or drink, and eventually died after 5, 6 days.
Now, I have a 20 day old baby and he is showing the same symptoms. An extremely swollen neck that looks like it is about to explode. The nest mate is healthy and have no symptoms. First I like to know what I can do to save this bird… second I need to find out if this is caused by a sickness that I am not aware of, or is it some sort of bug in my coop that bites my birds to infect them. It cant be food, since every other bird is healthy in my loft. Has anyone seen a case like that before or have any ideas? Thanks, Arif Mumtaz http://mumtazticloft.com/ |
