trying to figure out what was wrong with ferile pigeonthere was a pigeon outside my work today that didn't move more than 20 yards within the 4 hours i was there. he was obviously dying, bloated, and had something (internal organs?) hanging out from underneath him and dragging on the ground. there was blood and white stuff (foam? i don't know) trailing where whatever-it-was had been dragging. at one point the pigeon collapsed and then got back up and moved a little bit more.
it was heartbreaking and i'm just wondering if anyone might have any idea what i'm talking about or what was wrong with it. there wasn't really bleeding to indicate a gash that would have caused his organs to spill out. i can't figure this one out. |

Sometimes an egg will break, after it's laid, ooze and get stuck to the featherers around the vent. It may be possible to catch a bird in such a weakened condition as you described and if you can catch it, the bird may be saved.
Is it possible to go back and get the poor thing?

i once waited for the bus downtown and decided to feed the pigeons before bus comes.
they all gathered around , and i noticed one of the young babies was being stomped.. he didnt move a lot and he keept trying to bite his feet. so i threw the food toward him and leaned down and i caugh it. it was hair ( black wig ) and a lot of it tied around his feet, it took me half an hour to take it off with just my nails. after i took it off i released the birdie and he stood up on his feet, i noticed his legs were little deformed, god knows how long the damn hair was there. he was so cute, and i felt so good about helping him why didnt u take the bird after work.??? r u working tomorrow. it will probably die over night not everybody is same, i would have left work, but thats just me. people at work know my opsession and they would have let me go help the bird |

...well...if you weren't able to get him/her, we will pretty much never know what it might have been. I have to say, it's disheartening to hear that it was out there in such a state for several hours, am assuming in plain sight of a lotta folks...
