Do you have any DMSO it something that is really cheap at any tractor supply stores. Mostly used on horses. You mix 1 part DMSO and 9 parts water and apply it to the swollen area. Or just keep it in a cage or box so he can't use if for the night and see how it is in the morning. Maybe with time of him staying off of it, it can get back to normal. I know I can use the DMSO on my starlings, I'm pretty sure about pigeons but wait for someone else to give you the okay. Thanks for helping out this little one. Your a good person. min

Thank you for helping this bird.

First make sure the bird is confined to a small carrier or cage-to keep him from using it, not sure what you can use for the swelling, that would depend on whether it is an infection, a bruise or sprain/injury or a disease.

Where are you located, perhaps we can find some help?

If you tell us where you are located, I may be able to direct you to help that won't charge.
In the meantime, please examine the bird's feet carefully for thread, string or hair that may be wrapped around the foot and cutting off circulation. It can be very difficult to see if it's thread or hair.

So if its just swelling are you saying its not okay to use DMSO on pigeons? People use it on starlings all the time if they hurt there leg or even if they seem to have a wing thats hurt anything that isn't an open wound they will use it on starlings and it really does work. Also can't use in eyes and mouth, and only mix it in a glass container. Its used for horses and there muscles straight no dilution. It doesn't take much for birds, One drop from an eye dropper and 9 drops of water. Just wondering? min

Nina needs to examine the foot to see if she can deternine the cause of the swelling. It may be string, thread or hair.
