Question

two new eggs!

Hi my name is kiwijewel and I am from the south Island of New Zealand. Yesterday my partner came home from work with two pigeon eggs which I put in the water cupboard overnight. I have turned them a couple of times but they felt quite warm, can anybody enlighten me as to the time it takes to hatch an egg, how warm it should be and any other information that you think i might need. I have hand reared one bird from a very small chick, it had fallen from its nest. My partner works at our local port and the pigeons nest there amongst the cargo and containers, the nest the eggs were in was on a container that was being shipped out. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks kiwijewel_nz

Hello and welcome! Thank you so much for trying to save these "egglings"! The incubation time for pigeon eggs is 18 days give or take a day or two. If you do a search here at PigeonTalk on "incubation", you should turn up several very informative threads on the subject.

Please keep us posted on things.
