Update on Davis, the impaled pigeonI had written some posts back in January about a pigeon in Somerville MA who had been impaled by a dart through his neck.
I am still checking on him and feeding him after snowstorms. He seems to be fine, although I am sure it's uncomfortable. I'm thinking capturing him may cause more harm to him in the capture process; or the dart removal process. He seems to be Okay. It's been two months now. When/if he lets me know he wants to be caught, I will help in anyway possible. Until then, it's working out to leave him alone, but keep an eye on him. Thanks to all who responded for all your advice and help. Great site. |

Thank you for the update. Poor pigeon! Bless you for looking after this bird for so long. If you can catch him, please do .. =but= let a vet or experienced rehabber deal with the dart. It has to be so firmly embedded by now that it's going to be difficult and dangerous to get out.
