Hey all, I'm new to the board today since finding "Fuzzy," a sweet
young pigeon that appears to have a broken leg/wing. I found him/her sitting in an urban parking lot and when he tried to get away from me he would take a few steps and then his leg would appear to give out and he'd fall. I caught him easily in a box, brought him home and now he's sitting in an open-topped box with a towel, a cup of water and some bread crumbs and pieces. I was planning to take him out to the
wildlife center that says it rehabs all animals tomorrow but wondered if there's anything more I should be doing. He's scared of my husband but he seems to 'know' I'm helping him because he let me pet his head once and doesn't 'run' from me.
Fuzzy appears pretty young; he's mostly feathered in gray but he still has the yellow down sticking out in places, no feathers under his wings and his eyes are dark brown. What more can I do to make him as comfortable as possible and increase his chances for survival? I'm sure you've repeated all this information a million times and I got as far as I've gotten bu reading back posts (thank you!). Is there anything you can give a pigeon to relieve pain? I'm sure aspirin and the like is probably out, I just feel so bad for the little guy.
Thank you for this great board!
Julie and Fuzzy
