A brilliant article, they are fascinating birds, are you aware of any breeders in the Uk?

The breed is actually more popular in Europe. I have herd story's of 400 Texan pioneers at one show in Europe.

Very interesting and informative.
When I had mine back in the early days (1960's) I found them a very calm and quiet breed which I kept in the same lofts as birds much less than half their size. |

I thoroughly enjoyed reading about these beautiful birds.
I had never heard of this breed until you joined the forum so I'm happy to now know about them. You did a terrific job. Thank you. ![]()

There is only one UK breeder, they brought the birds over from America a few weeks ago... I find the auto sexing factor in then fascinating, they're such an attractive breed.

does anyone have any pioneer birds for sale? I have one pair but would like another pair so they are not related. Prefer non recessive red only because i already have the recessive red pair.

Texan Pioneer Club Place to check for birds and local breeders as well as those those worldwide. I know there are Texans in Germany, not too sure about the U.K., but I believe there are a few. You might want to email Claudio - whose email is on this - if they have a big Texan European club, he might likely know of UK breeders. This is a two year old piece of info, but you should still be able to contact him. His email is toward the bottom http://download.texaner.de/meldepapi..._einladung.pdf Here's the listing for the German club, they may also know some UK breeders http://beta.texaner.de/index.php?id=12 Last edited by bluecheck; 19th November 2009 at 09:33 PM. |
