10 Homer Breaders To A Good HomeI Do not want to mislead anyone. So here's the deal.I breed white homers, I have 14 breaders, plus 60 release pigeons . I breed only in the spring with a couple + pair of birds, they raise only 4 cluches of eggs per pair. then they rest and just have a big time around the loft. The wife is getting hot around the collar, she says there is to many
so the breeders are the first to go. I am working on a project with some whites she dont know about OO here she comes 1 PAIR OF WHITE HOMERS= $80.00 PLUS BOX AND SHIPPING GUARANTEED TO THROUGH WHITE SQUEEKERS ANY BLACK FEATHERS AND SEND THEM BACK. AND I WILL REPLACE THEM WITH A NEW PAIR. 2- have had wormings for the spring 3- have had antbotics as a precaution. 4-WELL I DONT REALLY WANT TO GET RID OF THEM WHITEWINGSOVERCLT@ALLTEL.NET east of Charlotte, NC area. I have a question for you. Why would you use antibiotics as a precautionary measure? I am new to the forum, but not new to raising pigeons. And I'm not trying to cause a stir. But the truth is, I would never buy or even allow someone to give me birds that they just give antibiotics to for no particular reason. I have never given antibiotics and I have had a few yb die. But the ones who survive are better and stronger for it. Royalpigeon |

Royal good question, for some reason 10 out of 60 release birds had pink eye. so rather than just treating them seperatly and having to possibly do the treatment again in a week of so I treated them all at the same time. The treatment was for 3 days. after the 2nd day the eyes cleared up. I like to try to catch these things very early and take care of the problem. 8 years ago I lost alot of rollers from not knowing what to do. so you are doing the right thing by asking questions. Tug

pink eye?Tugboat
Sorry if I sounded a little harsh. I have never heard of pink eye in pigeons. Is that something thats easily gotten in your part of the country. I am in the north east part of Kansas. Both of my 2 young boys came down with pink eye last summer, I sure hope they didn't get it from my birds and I was totaly ignorant of where it came from. My boys have parlor tumblers and I raise racing birds . Mostly grizzle with a few white thrown in. I love it when a good white bird shows up the other guy's in the club. I would really like to get a few more differing breeds that are rare. I'm just about to acquire a couple pair of "Oriental rollers" from a guy not too far from here. He has some awesome quality birds. Anyway, glad to hear you got the pink eye under control. Royaltypigeon |

Royal, Did not take it to be to harsh, everyone has there on ways of doing things from things they have learned in the past and from asking questions. If you dont ask questions you dont learn anything. Over the past 25 years of breeding birds I have learned from my mistakes. To answer your question about the pink eye in my area, this is the 2nd time I have ever had it in my loft. About a month ago I had a racing homer show up and trap with the others,Tried to find the owner, called around and even had some help from lovebirds from this site. No luck finding the owner. So the stray was around for about a week finally left and came back the next week, stayed two days and left again can't say for sure that is what caused the problem.
Here is a good site to check out it realy helps me out alot. Hope you enjoy your new pigeons.Tugboat. PigeonNetwork.com |

Pink eye can be from several causes....I can't say it with complete certainty, but I would doubt that your birds had anything to do with your boys developing pink eye. I work in an elementary school, and I know from experience that pink eye can be highly contagious and that it is more likely that your boys contracted it from one of their classmates or playmates. Here is a link about pink eye in humans: http://www.stlukeseye.com/Conditions/Conjunctivitis.asp Linda |

pink eyeThanks Linda for that information. Both my boys must have gotten the bacteria kind. Their eyelids would be stuck together in the mornings. And it did last about 3 weeks.
Hopefully it won't happen again. That was no fun for them. Thanks again Gary |
