Lonely Adorable Male

Please help me find a nice female for my male.

We provide about 400 meals a day for my neighborhood ferral pigeons. We love them all and look forward to the twice a day feedings. We started with feeding a few Cardinals and then a couple of pigeons came and the word spread quickly! We buy more food at the grocery store for them than for our family each week, for sure!!!
During the morning feeding last November a little guy was left behind by the flock with a fractured leg and foot. His foot has not healed and his doctor said it may be permanently damaged. He has tremendous heart though and has learned to cope. He's about a year and a few months old and very handsome!
We won't let him out because of predators so he has now positioned himself as the grand ruler of the family! We love him SO much...we are hoping to find him a female who has a nice disposition. Please help if possible.

Thank you...

Welcome to Pigeon Talk. Your baby sounds adorable. Do you have any pictures? (Not only are we pigeon fanatics, we're picture fanatics too. LOL) I don't think finding a mate for your baby would be a problem. Everyone will ask though.....where are you located? And where exactly does this pigeon live? In your house? What kind of set up do you have for him? WE are all pigeon lovers so you must understand that we'd have to know the arrangements for any future bird. Being that you are a pigeon lover yourself, I'm sure you understand. Look forward to hearing more about you and your baby. Oh, does he have a name?

Hi Buttons and welcome to Pigeon-Talk! Thank you so much for looking after and caring for your feral flock and for rescuing your little one. If you would tell us where you are located (city, state), I'll bet we can find a friend for your pigeon in no time at all

Lonely Adorable Male

Thank you both so much for your response to our baby's loneliness. I hope this will answer some of the questions, and thank you for your kind advice.

His name is Plucky Luciano and he resides in Ft. Lauderdale Florida. I will post a photo, but for now, he is grayish blueish, with green and purple around his neck and chest which just came in around January/Feb. Plucky has checkered looking wings. He is strong and stout with a lot of pride.
He lives on all organic seeds that a wildlife and pigeon lover vet suggested from Whole Foods, with the proper grit etc.
Plucky has his choice of numerous perches throughout the house. We have a fairly large home (4500 sq ft) which has been pigeon proofed from any mishaps from wires, objects, etc. He is truly our heart and our child so he is a tad bit spoiled and really protected! My mother said, she's thrilled that she finally has a Grandchild!!!
Plucky also has a large loft that spans a wall in the living room where he has large screened windows looking out to the pool and lush tropical setting. He also has a screened aviary that runs the entire length of the house. We will never allow him to be outdoors for fear of a predator. He has a lot of gumption, he's bossy towards us with no fear, but his foot is most likely never going to heal and we couldn't live with ourselves if anything happened to him.
We feed the ferrals at the other end of the property as suggested by Plucky's doctor to prevent any type of contagious parasites. We've made the ferral area a sort of shangri-la for them. They lounge around and socialize...they are all sooooooooo precious!
Plucky enjoys his outdoor time (screened in) from around 10 A.M. until about 4 P.M. He's not an early riser and gets grouchy if disturbed before 9 in the morning. Is this common??? He tucks his head into his blanky and if woken up becomes very angry at us!

I hope this answers some of the questions...I would be happy to talk directly with you, if anyone would like...I just need a hint as how to get you my number!

THANK YOU so VERY much for trying to help us find a comapnion for Plucky. I promise that she will be treated with magnificent care and endless love as a treasured member of our family.

Hi Buttons. Welcome to the forum. It was a pleasure to read your post about Plucky and I am grateful you have given him such a wonderful life. Pigeons are special and it sounds like you really love him.

I am sure you will get many offers for a friend for Plucky. There are many, many pigeons that need homes.

Buttons, sounds like you have a wonderful set up there for your Plucky. Another question that might come up, would you prefer to pick up a bird locally or how far would you drive OR would you be open to having a bird shipped to you?

Hi Buttons,
I am in Miami Fl, and we have also a member in your area, we can easily find you a girl for your darling pij. I don't have a female right now, but might be getting one in a week or two. A friend found a grounded bird with a broken wing a few days ago. If she won't be able to fly she will need a new forever home.
Also, we can ask Yong, another member on here (doesn't post much cause she is so busy) if she has a tame female.
Another option is another friend of mine who rescued three babies and one of them is very imprinted, not sure if this one will be releasable, we don't know though if it is a girl or boy.
So, as you can see there are many options.
You can give me a call at 305-374-3525

Hello and Welcome to Pigeon Talk,

Plucky sounds like a wonderful character, and quite the king of the castle...who would like to "rule the roost". I have a few that have me wrapped around their little flight feather.

I live in Palm Bay Florida and have a variety of pigeons, pets and homers, and show birds. Right now my males outnumber the hens, but if I come across a rescue hen, I will let you know. Our local wildlife rehabber comes across alot of pigeons this time of year.

Does anyone know if a Fantail Pigeon is compatible with a feral? Are these really different birds or can they get along?
Please help because there is quite a "looker" that needs a good home and of course you all know Plucky needs a good friend!!!

I have a FanTail (FanTastic) that has now chosen a feral as her mate .. not once but twice. Her first feral mate died. and though she had the opportunity to pair up with a fantail, she chose a feral again. Her mate is Jamuko's Pidgey. They are currently sitting on one egg.

No shipping. Pick up only. they reside in tampa, fl. we have to find them homes by this thurs. their home was destroyed and i have to keep them in other cages. we have a family emergency and have to be out of state and have no idea when we might be coming home, thats why we have to find them good homes. i love my birds.
